As the one-stop shop for government jobs, USAJOBS.gov has roughly 30,000 vacancy announcements on the site at any given time. Navigating the website and understanding job listing information is half the battle. With a little help decoding all the government language used to describe the types of jobs that the government has available, you'll be well on your way.
The resume you have on file for private-sector jobs may not meet the requirements of the federal job vacancy announcement.  The announcement may require that your resume include information like your birthday, citizenship, veteran status (if applicable), security clearance, civil service status, and your supervisor’s name, your salary, and your hours for all previous work experiences.

It's utterly ridiculous that I have to use my cellphone to receive a PIN to login on my government c...omputer. I work in a classified facility where our phones must be turned off and stored before we enter the building. What's more, I live overseas and my phone number is a foreign number, which I cannot access except from this country (unless I incur $3.00 service charges per SMS message). If I'm traveling and I get a notification, I can't login to check my status until I return to my overseas station! That's just a plain stupid design. Lots of folks living abroad use this site, too. You need to fix this nonsense! See More

Indianapolis GM Liz Lohman was presented with an opportunity to make someone’s day and she seized it all the way. Each year during Autism Awareness Month when our teams decorate their dining rooms with blue puzzle pieces and collect donations for Autism Speaks, we often hear from thankful families who live with the realities of spectrum disorders every day. Likewise, Liz encountered a 5-year-old whose birthday dream was to become a superhero. As he had been diagnosed with autism the year prior, his mom thought the perfect superhero cape for her son would be the autism-themed cape hanging in Liz’s Castle in honor of Autism Awareness Month. His mom inquired about purchasing it, but Liz took charge and made some birthday magic. She invited the family in for a special dinner and made his wish come true by gifting him the superhero cape.
Manual work seems to shorten one's lifespan.[2] High rank[3] (a higher position at the pecking order) has a positive effect. Professions that cause anxiety have a direct negative impact on health and lifespan.[4] Some data is more complex to interpret due to the various reasons of long life expectancy; thus skilled professionals, employees with secure jobs and low anxiety occupants may live a long life for variant reasons.[5] The more positive characteristics one's job is, the more likely he or she will have a longer lifespan.[6][7] Gender, country,[8] and actual (what statistics reveal, not what people believe) danger are also notable parameters.[9]
